Front- Triangle

Link: http://fontstruct.fontshop.com/fontstructions/show/10058

I use two different right triangles and small square to make this front. Every place where two differnt direction triangles meets, I will use a squre to substitute. However, for some place, I still use square instead of triangle even though it’s not a place where two differnt direction triangles meet, because i think it will look better.

I try to make every front in same size, but it’s really hard. Because  the turning and the i can’t draw only half square (the background square) and change the size of the bricks.

“Q Fur” Reflection

I think my front is pretty useless. Because you can’t use it as a front for homework and it can’t be used in small size. Small size will make the front looks like caterpillar, which is really disgusting…

However, this is a interesting front if you need to make big poster. The front is obvious and thick enough so you can see it from far away.

The front will look better if you use only black. Too colorful will make the front too fansy.

My Front - Q Fur

q-name.gif

This is my front. I named it Q Fur!

I fist use Line Segment Tool and Ellipse Tool to write PATRIC.Than, use pencil tool to draw little segment around the line and ellipse. Finally, delete the original line and ellipse. And you are done!

The characteristic of this front is that the basic line is straight and the arc is very circular.  No special thing at the end of the front. The little segments are in irregular length so the front will look more active and funny.

This front can’t use in small size. Because it will look like a spider!

“Helvetica” Reflection

This is a very educational and sourceful movie which talkes about the historical development of the front Helvatica and many typographers’ opinion toward this front.

Personally, I have never used this front before. I always use Ariel, Times New Roman (teacher request) or other cute fronts.  However, throught the movie, I realize that many company use Helvetica for their logos. Such as McDonald’s and American Airline.

Some typographers like this front because they think it’s clear, clean, professional, understandable and neutral. On the other hand, there are some other typographers who don’t like this front because they think it has been over used and they feel better to use Ariel. However, it’s really subjective because everyone feels differently.

Throught my movie, I understand that design a type of front is not easy. You need to notice every little details and you need to worry if user will like this front or not. The sketch of a front it not only a piece of paper. it’s a book. Typographers need to draw many differnet picture to clearly describe the front in order to establish the front. Every front you choose in Words is well-designed by those typographers.

Typographer is a really interesting job and I think i will be more willing to know more about typographer’s job instead of the history of a front !
